School holidays are approaching and sometimes littler legs need a break. Our trusted ski instructors/guide partners have tried all the best pit stop to bring you the ‘best hot chocolate stops in the Portes Du Soleil!’ A treasure chest of information from years on the mountain.

Le Quarant Sept (Lindarets – Montriond, France) “I have studied hot chocolates in great depth with my clients, especially my local kids club the Gorilla gang. We voted the snack place at the top of the ardent telecabine (le quarante sept) as the best hot chocolate”.

Folie Douce (Avoriaz, France) “A little bit controversial as it’s known for its apres vibe but that’s why it’s a great place as it’s always quiet for hot chocolate time before the party people turn up! So u can always get a seat, great spot for people watching and in the heart of Avoriaz. (But don’t tell anyone as I like it quiet!)”

Cookie Cafe (Mosettes, France) BillSki – “Classic hot milk with coco powder Swiss style hot chocolate. Brilliant view and a great terrace in the sun.” SkiBeyond – “Also best coffee.”

La Poya (Avoriaz, France) and La Cachette (Avoriaz, France)

Les Cretes (Super Morzine, France ) “Top of Zore, also great for beginners on the Proclus loop.” Le Vaffieu (Morzine, France). Mamos (Lindarets – Montriond, France) “Great hot choc & Crepe combo!”

MacCoq/Coquoz  (Crosets, Switzerland)  “Voted as the best compromise between chocolatey and milky by my clients last year, and we sampled just about every place we could think of.”

La Ferme A Gaby (Champoussin, Switzerland)  “Honourable mention. They use their own milk from the farm, and upstairs you’ll find a really bizarre, almost spooky, alpine life museum, complete with baby doll in a crib and spinning wheels!” A similar micro farm La Ferme De Seraussaix appears in our top coffee stops.

Pomme de Pin (Montriond, France) “Their double shot mocha is my powder-day tradition.”

Wedz’et (Les Gets, France). This recommendation comes up again again as they do a huge sharing hot chocolate with marshmallows, whipped cream and all!

The Spot Cafe (Avoriaz, France) SkiWithEase “After consulting with the team, we had a number of recommendations, but the one place that was on everybody’s list was… The newcomer on the Avoriaz scene: The Spot Café. Opened last season, it is located at the top of the Prodains Telecabine, in the fully modernised remnants of the old upper telecabine station. With full-height glass windows that overlook the valley and the arriving telecabines at the new station below, the café is light and bright.” See SkiWithEase video here RealSnowboarding – Don’t often get to stop for hot chocolate however “ have become a fan of the Spot cafe due to it quick service and the location is on point!”

The Igloo Village (Avoriaz, France)  SkiWithEase “I think we were all in agreement, not a 10/10 hot chocolate, BUT… Certainly, the coolest place to take a hot chocolate on the mountain is The Igloo Village! A fresh theme every year.“ Also in our blog here

La Rosset’taz (Les Gets, France). This restaurant offers breathtaking views, and in our view, enhances the enjoyment of their hot chocolate even more! Be sure to bring cash, as card machines do not work due to the ‘restaurants mountain location’ they say. When you want to warm up, you’ll likely find a cozy spot inside, since it’s one of the lesser-known places. The restaurant is just a minute down from new Rosta chair that comes up from the Les Gets bowl, take the Reine des Pres and the restaurant is on the right-hand side.
