Additional services we can arrange for you

Lift Passes

Would you like us to get you any lift passes ahead of time? We recommend the PDS pass. Based on the location of Chalet Grand Hibou, you have direct access to the Avoriaz 1800 side or resort via the Prodains Express (where your daily shuttles drop off and pick up from). This is then linked to the Morzine and Les Gets side of the resort with either the Super Morzine lift.

You can purchase an Avoiraz-only pass which can only be brought for a maximum of 2 days at a time. The Avoiraz-only pass costs €95.00 for 2 days, which would therefore be €285 for the week. This is only 5% less than the full area pass however only gives you access to 10% of the available pistes (70km instead of 650km).

  • Adult 6 day PDS pass: €324 each
  • Child 6 day PDS pass: €243 each
Please note that although Morzine and Les Gets Only passes are available, we do not recommend this pass for guests at Grand Hibou as one would have to then take a bus every day to get to this separate ski area.

LIFT PASS INSURANCE

Would you like us to add SnowRisk Insurance to your ski pass? The cost is €3.50pp per day and is simply added to the expenses total due when paying for your lift pass. You can find out more at: https://www.snowrisk.com/

PAYMENT FOR LIFT PASSES

Please note that the payment for lift passes can be paid in one of 2 ways:

1. Paid via online transfer prior to your arrival in Morzine.

2. Paid in cash Euros or via card payment during your stay in your chalet. Please note, we are unable to accept payment with an American Express card.

Airport Transfers

Please could you confirm your flight details and if you would like us to arrange any transfers for you? You can add this information into the ‘Travel’ section within your online booking.

Log into My Booking Portal >>
We will then receive this request but will confirm all with you before making the final booking for you.

The sooner we book your transfer, the lower the price we will be able to secure. So please do let us know your flight details as soon as possible.

  • Private transfers to and from Geneva airport are €280 each way.
  • Shared transfers will be available this winter season but availability will be limited. The price is between €45-€60pp depending on how early you book.
If you are all arriving and departing together then a private makes sense!
If you have arranged your own transfers, please still let us know your flight details so we can make sure that someone is there to meet you in the Chalet when you arrive.
Check-in is at 5 pm, but if you arrive before this time there will be somewhere for you to leave your bags and head out skiing or into town for some lunch. However, due to covid guidelines, we cannot welcome you inside the chalet any earlier.

Ski Hire

If you require any ski hire we recommend using Ski Mobile. You simply reserve your items with them ahead of time and they bring all of the equipment to the chalet and fit you there! If you use the code of SKIOLOGY and your chalet name ( GRAND HIBOU ) to receive a 20% discount and they then know where to bring the items.
Ski Mobile: Morzine >>

If you need gloves or a hat etc Avoriaz sports is at the top of the cable car to the right of the ESF office. Ski Alp is just before you reach the cable car on your right opposite the Neige et Roc hotel.

Lessons

Children’s Introduction to snow

(3 years old)

Children from 3 can learn to ski at the famous Village Des Enfants in Avoriaz or with ESF’s Piou Piou.

Village Des Enfants is just down from the plateau so one can take the horse and cart or walk. The walk is about 15 minutes the first time, then 10 minutes after that.

To walk: At the top of the cable car, head towards restaurant ChangaBanga then take the lift up just beyond it on the left, walk along the corridor at the top, go up the stairs and follow the middle of the 3 roads. The Villages Des Enfants is just at the top of this.

Children’s Ski School

(6 years +)

For guests in Chalet Grand Hibou, Avoriaz Alpine ski school is a great option as their lessons start on Monday, perfect for guests arriving on Sunday.

The Avoriaz Alpine Ski School main meeting point – the Hut – is perfectly situated on the Avoriaz Plateau between La Folie Douce & le Yeti. It is an on-snow meeting point chalet and a private area for starting and finishing lessons.

To get to the Plateau one simply takes the chair lift up next to the cable car, Avoriaz Alpine Ski School have a video showing the way here!

If it is your time on snow and the chair lift does not look like your cup of tea then we recommend taking a horse-drawn cart! This was recommended to us by our guests. One simply arrives at the top of the cable car, picks up the free to use the phone in the phone box and just like calling a cab, one appears, the cost is around €10.

The creche welcomes children aged between 6 months and 3 years old, it’s open every day except Saturdays between 8.30am and 5pm, beginning on Sunday 24th December. We advise bringing with you some slippers or flip-flops if you intend to use the hot tub as otherwise, the floor in the chalet becomes very slippery when wet!
If you do not wish to use the hot tub during your stay, please do let us know and we will happily switch it offer to reduce our carbon footprint.

We understand the absolute importance of delivering your foodie ski free from the menu in a way that provides you with complete confidence. Therefore, if you would like to speak to Sophie, our ‘free from chef ‘ who creates the free-from menu, she will gladly talk you through the Skiology kitchen practices and team procedures to give you peace of mind.

Dietary preferences

Our Skiology chalets are all set menu chalets where the menu has been carefully crafted by our team in line with our Passion for Good Food ethos. We have set menu options for the major allergies and preferences mentioned above. However, anything outside of this becomes tricky to cater to in the mountains. So please do get in touch well in advance of your holiday if you wish to make specific menu requests and be aware that this may be subject to additional fees.

Plaine Dranse: Chez Babeth +33 (0)4 50 73 38 77 at the back of the cluster of restaurants in Plaine Dranse, always popular for characterful owner and amazing interior decoration. Don’t leave without going inside first!

Morgins (Switzerland): La’0 s +41 (0)2 44 76 83 24 If Skiology did a mountain restaurant it would be a bit like this one. In their own words, “You will come to discover a gourmet and local cuisine, “homemade”, inspired by our region which is so rich in quality products! We participate in preserving our environment and its exceptional beauty by working responsibly and limiting our non-recyclable waste. Thank you to the producers for their know-how and their precious collaboration!”. Don’t faint at the prices they are in Swiss francs!

Champoussin Chez Gaby OR La Ferme Du Gaby (Switzerland): Chez Gaby +41 (0) 24 477 22 22 Once both were owned by the same person, now they have gone their own ways. Therefore, should you wish to have a mid-week towel change, please note it in the guest requirements section of the online booking form. We will ask for a donation of €5pp which will go to Cool Earth, a charity that helps us offset our carbon footprint.
